Every year has its own feel, but 2025 has really been about one thing above all else: CHANGE! In the built environment, change is no longer an occasional shake-up – it’s just how things are. New structures, new ownership, new client expectations, new ways of working. And all of it playing out in a world shaped by technology, uncertainty and opportunity all at once.
It’s no wonder so many people feel stretched or unsettled at times.
What’s struck me this year is how much purpose matters in moments like this. When everything around you keeps shifting, purpose becomes the anchor. It reminds you why you do the work, helps you make decisions when the path isn’t clear, and builds real resilience—personally and professionally.
Working with teams and leaders over the year, I’ve noticed a pattern. The people navigating change best tend to:
- stay clear on their purpose and let it guide their behaviour
- invest in relationships and remember that growth comes through people
- create clarity even when certainty isn’t possible
- stay curious, reflective, and open to learning
- keep reconnecting with what gives them meaning and momentum
So as the year wraps up, take a moment to reconnect with what matters to you. Celebrate progress, what you’ve learned and the change we’ve all navigated. Lets step into the new year grounded in the things that don’t change—your values, your relationships, and the impact you want to have.
To everyone I’ve worked with this year: thank you. For the trust, openness, ambition, and honesty. It’s been a privilege to work alongside people who care not just about growth, but about doing it with purpose.
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas, a chance to breathe, and a new year full of clarity, courage, and meaningful connection.
