Managing Partners Forum

I’m often singing the praises of the Managing Partners’ Forum
Yes, the audience is more law and accountancy firms – but for years I’ve been banging on about just how relevant their thinking is to the built environment sector – and to encourage more of you to join us!
This morning’s presentation was no exception.
It was uncannily aligned with what I see every day in engineering, architecture and multidisciplinary practices and challenges my clients look to me to help them with. The research highlighted that:

  • Technical excellence alone is no longer the differentiator
  • Client-facing capability is now a leadership skill, not a sales add-on
  • Firms that rely on a handful of rainmakers carry real risk
  • Client exposure, confidence and commercial thinking directly impact retention, succession and growth
  • And when these capabilities aren’t embedded, both clients and future leaders drift

In other words – the exact problems I spend my time helping clients to solve.

What struck me most was how strongly it confirmed my why and my purpose: To help built environment practices turn business development into a shared leadership capability, not an accidental talent – protecting relationships, growing confident future leaders and building resilient businesses.
I’d recommend listening to the session, downloading the research by Meridian West, or attending the upcoming seminar.

2025 felt like a pause year for property and the built environment.
2026 looks like a restart.

If there’s one thing the market taught us last year, it’s this:
